GENERAL PORT DESCRIPTION
The Port of Augusta (Sicily) located in the middle of the mediterranean Sea (Lat. 37° 13' N - Long.l5° 13' E), is the most important ltalian port for loading and discharging oil, chemical products with the best organization for bunkers, fresh water, fresh provisions, spare parts supply, crew changes and recovery sludge and slops.

Catania International Airport is only 40 Km from Augusta. In the Commercial area situated in the north zone of the port it is possible to load various general dry cargo (sulphur, fertilizer, magnesite, sodium and potassium in flake, coils, steel piles, woods, marbles, granite, special cargoes etc).

The commercial quays are illuminated, therefore, the ships can moor/unmoor also in the night time, the deep sea is from 11 m. to 14 m. There ore two Ro/lRo piers, each one 256 m. long, where it is possibile to load/unload trucks, cars, special cargoes etc. etc, others two piers, 250 m. and 275 m. long to load/unload general cargoes, and the last pier 703 m. long specialized in containers transhipment where it is possible to berth simultaneously three ships.
